Hand Pain Relief is Here

Are you ready for real hand pain relief? If so, you are in the right place! We’ll get into the details in just a moment, but first we’d like to share some information with you.

Most hand pain treatment is topically focused. For instance, creams, rubs, and ointments are this form of care. These penetrate the skin and can be mildly beneficial, if they contain appropriate ingredients. At least, they provide some soothing. But, what if you need more?

The next level of relief for hand pain might be messy wax dipping. This is not very transportable. The warmth is comforting, pleasant, and feels good. Again, wax does provide some relief. But, it is short-lived.

One of the best ways known to help with chronic pain relief is neurostimulation. This type of treatment gets more to the “heart” of the problem. By using neurostimulation units such as our NDGen and combining it with the best in conductive gloves, hand pain relief is achieved like never before.

How Do Conductive Gloves Relieve Hand Pain?

The concept of conductive gloves for hand pain relief is simple. Lead wires from the unit connect to leads snaps at the base of our clinical grade conductive gloves. Next, the unit is turned on and then, smooth and comfortable neurostimulation makes it all the way to your fingertips!

This is about the point where you say “AHHH.”

It really feels that good! But why?

First, NeuropathyDR in conjuction with our team put years of research into taking pain relief to the next level. How do we really help patients? That’s a constant thought in our minds and what we strive for every day. We are a team of highly trained professionals whose goal is to help our patients. Pain is the number one problem patients say they need help with, so here we are.

Our research tells us that different people require neurostimulation at different levels. We also know that, standard TENS unit stimulation doesn’t always get to all the points needing relief. Because of this, we set out to create something better.

Our Conductive Gloves are far and away better than cheaper imitations. We tested and retested to assure that patients achieve the benefits of NDGen neurostimulation all the way to your fingertips. After all, hand pain includes the fingers and tips too!

Let us help you achieve easy, portable, and successful hand pain relief. Click here to get started. We’re happy to talk to you about it as well. Give us a call, if you’d like to chat by phone. Here’s our number.

We look forward to your pain relief!

Good Treatment is a Project!

One of the things that frustrate physicians and patients alike in peripheral neuropathy and chronic pain syndromes is that multiple processes are often at work, which must be dealt with. You see, good treatment is a project!

You see there is no one-size-fits-all treatment program or “project” for any of us..

There are however significant things, which are all good strategies that too often are overlooked.

The biggest problems arise when daily things that should be attended to are not. Most of these things are centered on your own good self-care. If you read our articles and posts frequently you have a good idea of what you should be doing on a daily basis.

But what most patients and even physicians under estimate is the role that repetitive stimulatory therapies have in the recovery process in many forms of peripheral neuropathy and chronic pain.

These include things like specific guided exercises and targeted dietary supplementation, as well as repetitive electric and now often laser and light therapy. But problems can arise when these are not applied in the most specific manner possible. It takes much more than ordinary training on the part of your doctor or therapist to the proficient in treatment systems that produce the results we are both looking for.

Fortunately, there are therapies that can be in many cases regenerative in nature and others to which you may react unfavorably, some in fact may be harmful. That’s why it is imperative to get good guidance!

This is also why neuropathy and chronic pain treatment programs that focus only on stopping the pain process and not enhancing healing are almost always doomed to failure!

Always remember good neuropathy and pain treatment is a project.

And like all good projects you need a written plan, and somebody to help guide you through the process.

That’s why we are here; let us know how we may help you!

Treatment System

One of the most frustrating things for patients and doctors alike is not having adequate treatment plans for patients who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and chronic pain. We find most of the time with our new patients there has never been a real treatment system put into place.

When a piecemeal approach is taken both by patients and their professionals early on, and the net result is failure, or possibly worsening of the underlying neuropathy and chronic pain. Commonly this is the result of a number of factors and too often it’s failure to follow up on early milder issues.

But the good news is when specific formulas are followed, you know what to expect, and we then can know how to measure your progress.

For example, most patients who suffer from diabetic neuropathy know when they keep their blood sugars within a healthy range, their neuropathy and chronic pain improves.

Conversely, when blood sugars are out of control, most often due to poor diet the net result is poor.

And the same holds true for other many other health issues. For example having a personal treatment system including scheduled exercise, a firm diet plan (Get Yours HERE) as well as daily stretching and rest can make a profound difference.

The timing of dietary supplements, and even medications can make a big difference. We know for example that regularity, in terms of time of day and spacing of dosages can make a huge difference for many patients.

We also know that when treating with the NDGen treatment system at specific times makes a huge difference and leads to bigger improvements in quality of life.

So if you find yourself not progressing as much as you would like, let us help you develop a real treatment system or “game plan” for yourself.

Remember no two patients are the same. Some trial and error is necessary to find out what works best for you.

But the good news is having a treatment system to follow provides for more measurable results!

Developing a Better Self-Care Plan

If you’re reading this, you likely already understand that so much of getting better when faced with a serious health issue and especially neuropathy and chronic pain is a do-it-for yourself project. And you likely realize a better self care plan can be a BIG piece of the puzzle.

It is also unrealistic for any doctor to say or any patient to assume that his or her own self-care does not have a major impact on their health, and yes of course recovery from any illness.

Because so many people find the topic so overwhelming, what I suggest is that you start by making very simple list. This is step one of your better self care plan.

For example, do you have the more common known risk factors that can cause or aggravate your health problems? This includes things like cigarette smoking, being as little as 10 to 20 pounds overweight, being inactive or sedentary, and consuming too much alcohol?

Do you now have to take more medications because your diet has been so poor?

You see all of these things can aggravate most health issues especially when neuropathy and chronic pain become part of them.

Perhaps there are genetic or family issues, which you cannot change completely.

But could you do a better job of taking care of yourself?

Could you walk more, stretch every day at least once, take your advised supplements and follow a plant based diet plan, and watch the timing and composition of your meals?

Are you using the NDGen® or wearable laser treatment devices you bought from us?

Could you do a better job of working on your stress, your high blood pressure and migraines?

Are you regularly exercising, and taking “time-outs” every day for meditation or prayer?

You see where I am going. One of the most important things you can do right now is to make a better self care plan list for yourself. Share this only with yourself and your health care professionals.

And then, choose just one thing to work on today!

Rather than becoming overwhelmed, it is much more productive to focus on one change at a time. Once that change has been activated, move onto the next. And so on, one day at a time.

When you start behaving in this way, you’ll likely find a better self care plan can improve results, and provide greater success when  working with our treatment professionals!

This is after all is why many hundreds more patients are joining our ranks every week, and we so thank you for being part of our extended family!

Lets make The Most Accurate Diagnosis. First!

Lets Make The Most Accurate Diagnosis First. We have been teaching patients and professionals this for many years. Here is one example why.

Recently, I had the opportunity to read an article written about pain & neuropathy treatment. This article was written directly for  patients.

Now maybe you even saw this yourself. It has been widely publicized as a “neuropathy treatment solution” in a bottle.

As I read through the article I couldn’t help but think of the patients I’ve seen in my clinic that have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, or another named condition when in fact they have also have another serious underlying health problem.

Unfortunately, this is not at all uncommon. I recently had this discussion with another doctor who repeated the same thing to me.

The fact of the matter is not every patient with a diagnosis or cause of their pain has had it fully explored and when possible confirmed. Far too often, the problem turns out to be something different than what they believed.

Treating patients with pain and neuropathy requires great skill, with much time dedicated to proper assessment and evaluation.

So often, pain, including peripheral neuropathy accompanies other medical conditions. Unless your Doctors are thorough, you can spend months and sometimes years chasing the wrong thing! This is happening more and more with all the Social Media “cures” and practices being promoted.

And that is why it is very important before beginning any extended program of care, it is crucial to most accurately understand what may be causing your symptoms.

Too often, patients with peripheral neuropathy have impaired sensation, and judgment affected by medication. This is one of the things that make self-treatment and home care without supervision potentially dangerous.

Be aware, there are also drug/diet supplement interactions, which can be potentially dangerous. A common one is Coumadin and Co Q10. Then there is the potential interaction with acetyl l Carnitine with thyroid, HIV and many chemotherapy drugs.

Choose your Doctor carefully. Stay away from fads, quick fixes or “magic treatment” pills or supplements.

When in doubt seek out our help before engaging any any questionable treatment. You can Call us anytime @ 781-659-7989.

Easy Home Tidiness Habits To Help You Reduce Stress

Coming home to a messy or cluttered house at the end of a long work day is not conducive to relaxation. It’s that simple. Stress over time can be devastating to our health, so it is important to make our homes into places of peace, a refuge from the cares of the outside world. Keeping your home tidy is an easy way to decrease stress.

Benefits of Reducing Stress

It’s no secret that stress is bad for our health. Not only can it lead to heart problems, there have been suggested links to cancer and dementia as well. Putting some time aside each day to relax, to have a peaceful space where you can let go of your worries, may aid your physical health. You may help reduce your risk of high blood pressure or even heart attacks if you take time to relax. Stress can impair memory and your ability to learn, and, as mentioned, may be a factor in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Aside from physical benefits, you may simply feel happier if you consciously choose to unwind each day. Stress may trigger relapses in depression and can lead to the buildup of cortisol, which can dampen the brain’s ability to produce serotonin and dopamine. Overall, it’s a good idea to make sure you have a space you can relax in every single day. Cleaning your home and making sure it is organized can help to create that environment.

Organization Practices

Part of keeping your home tidy and stress-free is having a good organization system in place. Lazy Susans can be used in more places than the kitchen cupboard. Clear up counter space in your bathroom by putting your lotions, face creams, toothpaste, or whatever you use daily on a lazy Susan to give you easy access and keep counters from being cluttered. Organize your linen closet by keeping sheets neat and folded together inside a pillow case. Add hooks or shelves to your bedroom to make sure you don’t leave jackets lying on floors, and books or purses askew on the bedside table.

Focus on the Bedroom

If you focus on creating a relaxing environment in one room, make it your bedroom. This should be your sanctuary from the rest of the world. Keep your chest of drawers tidy by using dividers so your clothes won’t be mixed and messy. Using multiple waste bins around the room can keep floors clear. If you are tight on space, you can transform your headboard into shelving, which can double as a nightstand as well. Whatever you do, make sure you keep your room feeling light and as stress-free as possible. This is the place you sleep, perhaps meditate, and should be a place of calm serenity. Adding scented candles in your preferred fragrance or using warmed oils can aid in relaxation. Hang soothing art and use light fixtures that make you feel at home in your bedroom.

A Home for Everything

It’s so easy, especially after having a long, tiring day, to strip your work day away when you get home. Your keys may go on the table and your shoes may wind up beneath the couch. Your purse may lie on the kitchen counter, and your jacket may end up half on a chair, half on the floor. This clutter can make a space, especially a small one, feel claustrophobic. Take fifteen minutes to assign “homes” for your high-use items. Make it a ritual to put things in their place right when you get home. Having a clear space with tidy walkways not only makes being home easier, but it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Your home should not add to anxiety or the stresses in your life. It should be your refuge and be somewhere you can safely unwind. By making little changes, you can ensure that your house is the perfect place to relax at the end of each day.

If you or someone you love suffers from peripheral neuropathy or chronic pain, I don’t have to tell you how frustrating treatment options can be. Eating Better to Help Neuropathy

Do you remember why we eat? It’s to provide fuel and “building blocks” so our bodies can function smoothly, and repair themselves. Eating Better to Help Neuropathy can help you improve your neuropathy treatment!

In our last few posts I’ve talked about how simple a neuropathy diet can, and should be most of the time

Do you remember though, why we eat? It’s to provide fuel and “building blocks” so our bodies can function smoothly, and repair themselves. Thinking very consciously about this really can help you change your neuropathy treatment!

One of the biggest things I find that helps us is always having a powerful image of how we want to feel, and function! Think about it. Would you rather be building your body with empty calories from highly refined foods or from fresh, “live” foods such as vegetables, fruits and so on.

As part of good neuropathy treatment we are trying to stop or reduce “Inflammation”, the cause of much pain and suffering.

Neuropathy patients especially, need to be able to repair their bodies better, maintain an even blood sugar, and also provide things like magnesium, and vitamins.

In neuropathy, magnesium can help ease pain and restore better sleep. In our neuropathy diet, this would be from eating our leafy green vegetables, fruits and nuts and as part of our supplementations.

The B Vitamins especially help our nerve cells work better. A key neuropathy vitamin is B1 or Thiamine. This one is crucial in neuropathy and diabetes as it helps your body “burn” starches and sugars, commonly called carbs now a days.

Plant food sources of thiamine include  nuts, oats, oranges, seeds, legumes, peas and yeast. Cereals are limited in the neuropathy diet, but small portions of things like whole oats: (hint: always measure) can help your belly work better and help keep cholesterol levels in check.

One of my favorite ways to start the day is with ¼ cup gluten free granola with almonds, then, add 1 tablespoon of our pea protein powder, and finally a splash of soy or almond milk. You’ll be keeping your carbs around 15-20 grams and be getting a head start on vitamins if you do this right.

A final word about neuropathy treatment supplements. Neuropathy treatment supplements are often advised in the NeuropathyDR clinics, always under supervision, and knowing what medicines you may be taking.

But always remember, the foundation of your best  treatment at home should be eating better to help your neuropathy and prescribed activity, with co-treatments directed by your NeuropathyDR clinician.

The Hard Truth About Dairy

You Won’t Hear This Advice From Many Doctors, But This One Factor May Change the Effectiveness of Your Neuropathy Diet.

The consumption of dairy products has always been a highly charged topic in nutrition. Here is the hard truth about dairy.

On the one hand, there is a sizable lobby advocating for the U.S. dairy industry. On the other hand, there is overwhelming scientific evidence that regular consumption of dairy products is a pretty bad idea for human beings.

In short, if you are wrestling with whether to include milk and other dairy products in your neuropathy diet, any contemplation of this question leads to a straightforward conclusion.

More than half of the human population has trouble digesting milk, leading to digestion problems, allergic reactions, and eventually elevated levels of “bad fats” in your body. What’s worse, there is a hormonal growth factor contained in most dairy products that is known to instigate several different types of cancer, including prostate and breast cancer. One specific kind of milk sugar called galactose is linked to ovarian cancer.

And the regular consumption of dairy is additionally linked to the likelihood of developing type 1 diabetes, which is a major risk factor for neuropathic pain.

All of this means that a neuropathy diet that eliminates dairy (as well as gluten) is one of the most effective ways to reduce inflammation and pain associated with neuropathy and chronic pain.

It’s best to make a gradual shift in your diet so that the changes you instill can be permanent. There are many dairy alternatives out there, including products made from coconut, rice, and almonds. Just watch out for any added sugar or thickening agents like carrageenan.

As always, I urge you to become your own best health advocate. HERE is a copy of our NeuropathyDR Diet Plan!

Neuropathy Self-Diagnosis and Treatment

Ever heard the phrase “The man who represents himself has a fool for a client?” The dangers of self diagnosis and treatment of conditions like neuropathy could cost you your life.

While the old adage above is applied to the legal profession, the same can be said about patients who attempt to diagnose and treat their own illnesses and injuries. Especially when their symptoms indicate they’re dealing with something that could be serious.

The internet has made it easy for us to research our own health issues and become educated patients  but it has also made it easy to misdiagnose and inaccurately treat those medical conditions. Often from very unqualified information.

Now this may not be dangerous with a common cold, but if you have (or think you have):

–           Shingles

–           Diabetic neuropathy

–           Post-chemotherapy neuropathy

–           Guillian-Barre Syndrome

–           Peripheral neuropathy

You could be doing your body irreparable harm by not consulting a highly trained clinician, for proper diagnosis and treatment.

By researching and treating on your own, you’re wasting valuable time and when you’re dealing with neuropathy or any condition that involves nerve damage, because so often you don’t have time to waste.

The delay in obtaining medical treatment could make a small problem much, much worse.  Once that window for early treatment is gone, you can never get it back.  Treating on your own is an excellent example of being penny wise and pound foolish.

Here are just a few of the things that can happen when you diagnose and treat on your own:

–           You could be wrong about the diagnosis and taking medications that you don’t need.  That not only means that you’re not “curing” yourself, you could be making matters  worse.

–          You could be right about the diagnosis but taking the wrong medications.

–          You could be right about the diagnosis but need prescription medication in the appropriate strength to address your symptoms.

–          You could be putting yourself at risk for serious drug interactions with other medicines you’re taking (especially if you’re taking over the counter medicines and supplements without medical supervision).

–          You could be fixing one problem with over the counter medications but making another problem worse or even creating a new problem.

–          You could be missing the root cause of the problem – particularly in cases of neuropathy.

–          Finally, you could be putting yourself at risk for life theatening damage.

You Need to Seek Professional Care

Treating on your own is a classic example of being penny wise and pound foolish. You may save a little money up front but it’s going to cost you more in the long run when your health care provider has to play catch up and try to fix the harm done by delaying proper treatment.

If you have symptoms of any of the illnesses we talked about above (especially diabetes), it is vital that you seek professional medical care.

Early treatment provided by a specialist familiar and specifically trained with peripheral neuropathy will make it much easier for your body to repair itself and lessen your chance of developing permanent nerve damage as a result of peripheral neuropathy.

Don’t be afraid to ask for our guidance.

Before you try to diagnose and treat yourself, we hope you’ll consider the potential harm you could doing to your body.  And make the right choice – seek professional diagnosis and treatment.

Time is of the essence.
